Medical Mission Shoot in Guatemala

Recently we shot in Salamá, Guatemala, to document a team of roughly 70 eye surgeons, nurses and support staff who voluntered some of their summer vacation time to perform free eye surgeries in the mountains north of Guatemala City. The trip was organized by the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, and The Hope Alliance, which distributed over 8,000 pairs of eyeglasses.

The team consisted of some of the top eye surgeons in the world, and included Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, who also performed surgeries.

Because of the remote location, and space limitations, we shot on a Sony FS700 and as a B camera with a Panasonic Lumix GH4, both in 4K. We also shot aerials of Salamá with a GOPRO/Phantom rig.
